Welcome to the November 2014 edition of Alumni Links. In this issue we are launching an exciting new way for graduates to connect with the NUI Galway Global Alumni Network and with each other. We've always known that NUI Galway graduates are making waves in many roles and locations. Tag your location and tell us your story!

In keeping with the international theme, we're also highlighting details of an Alumni Event in New York City which takes place on Wednesday November 19th. Closer to home, Alumni Gatherings will take place in Galway and Dublin as we approach Christmas. Details of these events will be announced shortly. We look forward to seeing you at a future event.

In University news, NUI Galway was the only Irish University to rise in the latest Times Higher Education international rankings. The University increased its position by 53 places and is now ranked 261st internationally. Welcoming the announcement, NUI Galway President Dr Jim Browne explained: “This is a major improvement for NUI Galway and reflects a consistent upward trend in these very competitive global rankings. This major jump in NUI Galway’s position in THE World University Rankings this year is an affirmation of our very focused approach to developing our international reputation in a select set of research areas."
